Air Dryers

Air Dryers – Refrigerated & Desiccant Air Dryers

Compressed Air Insitu is an authorised distributor for Southern Cross Compressors who offers a range of air dryers suitable for any application to remove water vapor from compressed air to prevent condensation from occurring and to prevent moisture from interfering in sensitive industrial processes.AirDryers

The process of air compression concentrates contaminants, including water vapor. This raises the dew point of the compressed air relative to free atmospheric air and leads to condensation within pipes as the compressed air cools downstream of the compressor.

Excessive water in compressed air, in either the liquid or vapor phase, can cause a variety of operational problems for users of compressed air. These include freezing of outdoor air lines, corrosion in piping and equipment, malfunctioning of pneumatic process control instruments, fouling of processes and products, and more.

We stock two various types of compressed air dryers. Their performance characteristics are typically defined by the dew point.

  • Regenerative desiccant dryers, often called “regens” or “twin tower” dryers
  • Refrigerated dryers

Many air dryers available in the Australian market have been manufactured and designed for overseas environments. As Australia has fluctuating temperatures with lows and highs into the 40°+ range it is important that a dryer with the correct specifications is selected for each application.

Air dryers designed overseas for cooler climatic temperatures will shut down during periods of hot, humid conditions particularly in Summer when the temperature exceeds the design of the air dryer. It is vital if your operating environment exceeds temperatures of 30ºC at any time during extended production that you ensure your air dryers are designed to operate efficiently at that range.

We have a range of refrigerated and desiccant air dryers that are specifically designed to suit the Australian climate. During hot periods they will still run efficiently and not shut-down which can adversely affect the quality of your compressed air supply and lead to lost productivity.
